Houdini gathered this interesting source on effects and stunts with paper in 1922 and it stayed in print through five editions, partly due to its important descriptions of effects that have since become standards, like the Torn and Restored Cigarette Paper and the Japanese Butterfly Trick.

Houdini’s Paper Magic has 23 close-up and stage effects, including Francis J. Werner’s Torn and Restored Bill routine and Félicien Trewey’s method for the Afghan Bands. The book also explains dozens of paper-folding designs, paper-tearing stunts, and puzzles using paper.

Our facsimile reproduces the 1922 first edition from the Karr Collection. Like our other reprints, we haven’t re-typeset the text, so you can see the actual original pages.
