Houdini revealed many secrets of escaping from handcuffs in this now-scarce 1910 book. Houdini’s motive may have been to hinder his rivals’ bookings, since he was already moving onto new techniques and more ambitious escape stunts, but he ended up with an excellent little work.
This fascinating book combines analyses of handcuffs, escape techniques, and lockpicking devices with historic anecdotes about Houdini’s imitators and court cases, enriched by nearly fifty photos of Houdini and his escapes, along with other explanatory illustrations.
Our facsimile reproduces the 1910 first edition from the original in the Karr Collection. Like our other reprints, we haven’t re-typeset the text, so you can see the actual original pages.
